A recent poll by a leading insurer reveals a cross-section of the nation's favourite dog names. Molly came out top, just pipping Poppy at the post! Charlie, Max and Alfie complete the top 5.

It seems that when deciding on names for our pets we draw inspiration from a wide range of sources. The pool reveals that Dog owners may have a bit of a sweet tooth when it comes to name choosing, with Fudge, Rolo, Muffin, Candy, Truffle, Mars and even Twix being popular! Other common food related names include Honey, Biscuit, Marmite, Noodles, Waffle and Sausage.

The poll also highlights that owners take inspiration from their favourite sport and stage personalities, with Rooneys, Arnies, Gerrads, even Harry Hill and Cher being selected!
