Holidays controlled by our pets!
It has recently been reported that Brits are choosing to stay closer to home this year when going on their summer holidays. This trend is more than likely to be down to the current economic situation.
It has now been suggested that the reason for many people staying in the UK is due to the new craze of taking their pets with them. 25% of all Brits have admitted to purposely choosing to holiday in
the UK rather than having to leave their dogs behind. 80% of owners said they would not leave their dogs in a kennel when they went away. Not all of us have this choice as if family or friends do not
want to help out and you want to go on holiday the only other choice is the kennels. Unless of course you follow suit with taking our pet with you! It is even possible to take our dogs abroad with us now.
The UK's Pet Travel Scheme makes holidaying abroad with our pets a lot simpler. Pet passports are now issued and allow you to take your dog to the EU. Last year alone, the government issued 46,500 EU pet
passports to UK veterinary practices.
Will you be taking your pet away with you this summer? Why not start a discussion in the forum to speak with fellow dog owners and compare dog-friendly B&Bs, Caravan sites etc
