Feeding your new Puppy
As puppies are continually growing they need two to three times the energy intake of an adult dog of the same weight. They require the same basic nutrients as adult dogs but the food must be more easily digestable.

Puppies have small stomachs therefore require small feeds at regular intervals. Prepared puppy food is specially balanced with input from vets and nutritonists to provide everything that your puppy should need to grow into a strong adult dog.
Table scraps are not advisable to feed to puppies as they often contain high calories and can disrupt the nutritional balance of the prepared food that is being given.

Chocolate designed for humans should NEVER be given as this is toxic for dogs. Should you wish to give your dog a treat ideally chose a low fat treat.

Puppies like to chew and unless you are happy with finding your slipper in pieces or a hole in the sofa it is advisable to provide a specially designed toy for them to chew. Not only will this prevent damage to your own belongings but it will also be safer for your puppy.

It is essential to provide your puppy with water at all times. You should monitor the amount that your puppy drinks as a constantly thirsty animal could indicate he or she may be unwell.

As your puppy grows into an adult dog it's feeding habits will change and you in turn should select the appropriate food for the life stage. If at anytime you become worried about a sudden change in your dogs eating or drinking pattern you should seek veterinary advice.
